It’s the End of the World as We Know It Revelation 17-20 Five Thoughts to REMEMBER As We Contemplate the End of the World 1. REMEMBER to guard yourself from getting caught up in the seductive trap of culture by realizing compromise is a slippery slope that can become next to impossible to regain traction from. “Come out of her, my people, lest you take part in her sins” (Revelation 18:4). 2. REMEMBER, the more entrenched a culture becomes in sin the more it’ll resist those who hold to a moral standard, especially those who hold to a Christian moral standard. 3. REMEMBER, worldliness and its fleeting pleasures will eventually be brought to end where at last we will finally see how cheap of a substitute the world and its ways are compared to God and His ways. “Our Lord finds our desires not too strong, but too weak. We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased.” C.S. Lewis, The Weight of Glory 4. REMEMBER, while the worst is still yet to come, so too is the best. In the meantime, we ought to live now like we will live later by viewing this life as our rehearsal for eternity. 5. REMEMBER, as Christians we can inwardly take heart and rejoice because the long-lasting battle between good and evil will eventually come to an end, because in the end Jesus wins!
