Cancelling Jesus Mark 15:1-32 1. Mob Culture Sought to Cancel Jesus by Pressing False Charges Against Him 2. Mob Culture Sought to Cancel Jesus by Wishing Him Dead 3. Mob Culture Sought to Cancel Jesus, by Making a Mockery of Him 4. Mob Culture Sought to Cancel Jesus, by Brutality without a trace of Remorse “They divide my garments among them, and for my clothing they cast lots” (Psalm 22:18). Today’s Takeaways: -Don’t miss the marks for detecting the mob: the mob presents itself w/ a seemingly just cause, it comes off self-righteous, it’ll exaggerate the truth or twist it to get their way, it’ll exchange the truth of God for a lie, it’ll seek to publicly shame you into submission, it’ll get violent, if necessary, and at last, the mob is brutal, not willing to negotiate, nor forgive. The mob has one goal. Eradication. -Don’t be surprised if the spirit of the mob that sought to cancel Jesus one day tries to cancel you. “If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you…Remember the word that I said to you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you” (John 15:18, 20). -Don’t let the mob against Jesus cause you to distance yourself from him, or to deny him, or to cave to the mob’s agenda out of fear or people pleasing.
