Thinking Biblically Before You Vote
• Series: Stand Alone
1. Never lose sight of the importance of loving others and remaining unified as a church family. 2. Know what the Bible says about the issues you’re voting for. 3. Vary your news sources between both sides to remain as objective as possible. 4. Refuse to demonize others who think differently. 5. Vote platform over personality by voting for the platform that most aligns with Scripture. 6. Realize that there is a hierarchy of values and that not all issues carry the same weight. 7. Willingly vote for the benefit of others, even if it means forsaking government entitlements for yourself. 8. Enter the voting booth prayers by praying for our governmental leaders. “I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone—for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good and pleases God our Savior” (1 Timothy 2:1-3). 9. Lastly, it’s going to be okay. Jesus is still on his throne. So, rejoice, he’s in charge and one day we will live under his perfect reign. That’s worth chewing on. “The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD; like channels of water He directs it wherever He wishes” (Proverbs 21:1).
