Three Warnings to Remember When Discerning God’s Will   1. Remember, we will miss God’s will if we expect it to be absent of suffering   “To choose to suffer means that there is something wrong; to choose God’s will even if it means suffering is a very different thing. No healthy saint ever chooses suffering; he chooses God’s will, as Jesus did, whether it means suffering or not.” Oswald Chambers     2. Remember, bad advice can come packaged even through good friends   “In attempting to turn Paul away from Jerusalem, his friends demonstrated that their spiritual focus was more horizontal than vertical. Their love and loyalty were commendable—they wanted to preserve Paul. But their motives, though noble, were shortsighted. These Christians were not seeing God’s ultimate purposes. They were looking out for Paul’s good but not God’s.” Kent Hughes     3. Remember, once God has spoken, the debate is over, it’s time to follow Him.     Today’s Takeaway   God’s will is often clearer than we realize, but the limitations we put on it blind us from seeing it!     Small-Group Discussion Questions:   What stood out to you from today’s message? Where do you struggle the most to embrace God’s will? Why do you think it is important to recognize that suffering is often entailed in God’s will for our lives?
