What’s Preventing You from Following Jesus? Mark 10:13-31

 • Series: Come Meet Jesus | A Series Through Mark

What’s Preventing You from Following Jesus? Mark 10:13-31 What prevents us from fully following Jesus? It could be: -Doctrinal doubts -Moral disagreements -Worldliness -Unhealthy relational attachments -Apathy -Addiction -Church hurt or unprocessed trauma, etc. “For whoever keeps the whole law but fails in one point has become guilty of all of it” (James 2:10). “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Matthew 6:19-21). Questions to Ponder: 1. Jesus told the rich young ruler what prevented him from following him, what would he say is preventing you? 2. The rich young ruler had a choice to make, and he chose his idol over Jesus. What will your choice be? 3. Know this. Just as Jesus loved the rich young ruler, he also loves you. But he also knows what has a hold on your life. The ruler may have owned a lot. But in reality—it all owned him. What owns you? 4. Have you come to see that the Gospel, which ultimately leads one to experience eternal life is not a thing to be earned, but a thing that was already earned on our behalf? Here’s the good news. Through Christ’s perfect life, sacrificial death, and miraculous resurrection you can find forgiveness, meaning, and eternal life through Him and for FREE. How does that sound? Are you interested?
