Living In Light of Jesus' Return! Mark 13:1-37 “But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people” (2 Timothy 3:1-5). Six Cautions to Avoid: 1. Don’t be deceived by false teachers and messianic posers. 2. Don’t interpret wars, calamities, and famines as the end. 3. Don’t be surprised to find yourself persecuted for the sake of the Gospel. 4. Don’t stop advancing the Gospel to the nations. 5. Don’t worry about what to say before authorities, God will give you the words. 6. Don’t lose hope when you’re hated on account of Jesus. Two Signs to Watch for: 1. The Abomination of Desolation 2. Cosmic Disturbances Two Questions to Answer: 1. Who does “this generation” refer to? 2. If Jesus is God, how could he not know the timing of his return? Let’s Get Personal: 1. Given the challenging times ahead, if you were to enter the tribulation period do you feel spiritually ready to follow Jesus without compromise? If not, where do you need exercise spiritually so that you’re fit for the task? 2. Before you worry yourself regarding Christ’s second coming, have you first believed in the promise of the Gospel that Jesus provided for us through his first coming?
