 • Series: Habakkuk

Craving Justice Habakkuk 2   “But these things I plan won’t happen right away. Slowly, steadily, surely, the time approaches when the vision will be fulfilled. If it seems slow, do not despair, for these things will surely come to pass. Just be patient! They will not be overdue a single day!” (Habakkuk 2:3, Living Bible)   “For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith” (Romans 1:17).   “Now it is evident that no one is justified before God by the law, for “The righteous shall live by faith” (Galatians 3:11).   “To one who has faith, no explanation is necessary. To one without faith, no explanation is possible.” Thomas Aquinas   “In faith there is enough light for those who want to believe and enough shadows to blind those who don’t.” Blaise Pascal   “Faith is deliberate confidence in the character of God whose ways you may not understand at the time.” Oswald Chambers   “Whoever sows injustice will reap calamity” (Proverbs 22:8).   “Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that he will also reap” (Galatians 6:7).   “Put first things first and we get second things thrown in: put second things first and we lose both first and second things.”  C.S. Lewis    “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you” (Matthew 6:33).     Wrap Up Thoughts:   *Be careful to not want something so bad that you’re willing to mistreat others to capture your desires. *Don’t fool yourself. Just because you may be getting away with something now, doesn’t mean you always will. In fact, you won’t. *Do a personal inventory of your own life and ask, "If God was to pronounce ‘woe’ on you for a particular sin(s) what would it be? *Joyfully embrace Jesus who took our woes on the cross & shockingly fulfilled God’s craving for justice on our behalf.     Small Group Discussion Questions:   1.       What stood out to you from today’s message? 2.       While ours is a culture that doesn’t want to hear about a God who judges, why is it important to be honest regarding what the Bible says about this topic? 3.       Why do you think so many churches avoid talking about some of the more difficult parts of the Bible (things like judgment, sin, repentance)?
